Dear Dr. Khalsa,
Layla is a 2 lb chihuahua born with hydrocephalus. She’s pretty healthy considering her condition of being born with hydrocephalus. She is on omeprazole to assist in the reduction of CF fluid. Layla is very congested all the time, and has very smelly breath. Her teeth aren’t the best. Now she’s developed an abscessed tooth. We’ve been soaking a Q tip in hydrogen peroxide and applying it to the area as well as crushed garlic oil and coconut oil. I’d really prefer not to use antibiotics if I don’t have to. Any advice is appreciated. Also she has lost mobility of her rear legs.
Dr. Deva Khalsa:
First of all, abscessed teeth are very draining and toxic to the body. The tooth should be removed and all her teeth cared for under anesthesia and best done by a veterinary dentist. Secondly, Apis mellifica 6x or 30x is excellent to use for hydrocephalus at 3x a day routinely for one month and then two weeks on and two weeks off on a rotating basis
Dear Dr. Khlasa,
I have a large male cat who developed pancreatitis due to the poor quality store cat food. I have for several years now, fed him a raw food diet. He rarely has severe attacks, but every 3-4 he has a small one. It starts with him becoming very hungry, and he begs for more food, and when I give him extra food, he vomits. I withhold all food and give him tea with dandelion root, nettle and yarrow. This stops the attack after a few hours. I then give him homemade broth with fat removed for one day, then feed special diet food from Vet. which is very costly. I am so afraid that I will run out of these herbs. Are there any cell salts, remedies or nutrients etc. that I could give him at the first signs?
Dr. Deva Khalsa:
The most wonderful remedy for the pancreas is Iris versicolor 6c or 30c. Give two or three times for a month and that should help quite a bit and you can go back to the raw diet which is always excellent for cats when you are ready.
Dear Dr. Khalsa,
My 8 yr old male maltese, Bubbles suddenly lost his vision on Dec 3rd followed 3 days later by loss of smell. I also noticed increased labored breathing and snoring, snorting sounds when breathing, and his need to lie on the floor rather than on a bed. He is getting homeopathic treatment sent from India from Dr Banerji’s Telemedecine Center. They have him on Drosy40, Trifali,40 Tambor40, Lipen 40, Antina40 or Respen40 alternating days, Utom 40, onemet, Handmet alternating with Sodanium, Beijij, for 6 days and on 7th day Softcarb 40..
We have been doing this treatment for 3 weeks already and I see no change, Bubbles has also been given 2 sessions of acupuncture focused on respiratory, lung issues because he does have wheezing, The one lateral chest Xray showed nothing. The opthamologist did the ERG test which showed no retinal function, so she Dx him with SARD, although she said this case is not cut and dry due to the simultaneous loss of smell with the breathing problems. I took Bubbels for MRI and CT scan but did not want him to have the anesthesia. Can you refer me to a place that can do the CT scan with just a sedative? Even if it is out the state, I will go.
Bubbles is smart and follows commands, follows me when off the leash at park by his hearing. He has a sonar device which he does not seem to be learning how to interpret the input from. It is worn on his back on a harness.
Blood tests were normal but estrogen was low, out of range, Also stool test was normal. No urine test was done,
I had also been giving him CBD oil in the form of Cannapet drops, also gave him fish oil and botanical anti inflammatory drops. I just started him with homeopathic formula called Sinu-rite, aimed to break up respiratory blockages in nose and chest and throat.
I hope that you can help and give me any pointers which you may know. Does this sound like a nasosinus brain tumor to you? Or a brain stem tumor
Thank you for your response.
Dr. Deva Khalsa:
Anesthetics are quite safe nowadays so I would feel comfortable with the veterinarians who do the scan. You do need this to be done because the source of this problem must be isolated. I imagine that his blood pressure was certainly taken as high blood pressure can cause the eye problems. I do not like fish oil as it contains PCB’s, Mercury and now- with Fukashima- radiation. I use Omega’s from different sources. See my article, the Good and Bad of Omegas : hoacuoidep.info/wp-content/uploads/omega3
This article explains a lot more about omega 3’s. Cannapet and similar products have become very popular. At least in my experience with numerous clients coming to me who have had their pets on it, it does not do much. This indeed could be a brain tumor and this is why you need further testing. You are shooting in the dark without it.
Good morning Dr Khalsa,
Thank you so much for reading my story of my boy Brady, who just turned 11.
Starting in 2014, his ALT was somewhat elevated, (223) on a routine senior dog blood test so a wait and retest situation. He had no symptoms at all. On 8/16, ALT jumped to 337, AST 80 and ALP from 63 to 1452. Still no symptoms.
The vet recommended a liver biopsy, so we took him to Seattle to a specialist. Liver biopsy showed a fibrotic liver in all four lobes but not cirrhotic. Her diagnosis was either copper storage or immune hepatitis. She was treated for copper storage even though his numbers really weren’t sufficiently high enough for a diagnosis. She said it was easier on him. But the penicillamine was like the WORST chemo…it made him horribly ill, so I took it away and started using zinc methiolate mixed in his food. I was making him a homemade diet and occasional Hills liver diet.
That was in October 2016. Now, around Christmas, he developed crusty paws making it hard to walk. He had other crusty spots as well. This past Monday, another blood test showed enzymes coming down. I thought it was a good sign that we were doing it right. But she said it looks like he has developed hepatocutaneous syndrome….a death sentence.
A specialist in Seattle said take him off homemade diet, and stop zinc in case he is allergic….now says it’s not copper storage. She wants me to bring him in for skin biopsies and amino acid infusions.
The antibiotic my local vet gave me to try is helping him. No smell anymore, and paws are healing somewhat. I’m soaking daily in Epsom salts and at night the udder cream. He is alert and walking better. Has always had a great appetite. But I know it may not last. I’m desperate, as I have lost faith in the vets’ combined wisdom to help my dog. Sorry for the long letter but had to lay it all out. Is there anything you can do homeopathically that will fundamentally change the grim outlook?
Dr. Deva Khalsa:
For this I do suggest you consult with me ASAP. There are many things that can help and you need to move fast. Please read my article on glutathione (find on my magazine section of my site) this is very helpful for liver problems but we need more than this. There are specific stem cell treatments that can be used that I can ship to you but first the entire case needs to be taken.
Dear Dr. Khalsa,
Mostly we just have witnessed
We have a 7.5 year young full blooded part mini Doxie named Paisley. I was trying to be a help to her digestion so I purchased a digestive enzyme product called enzyme miracle. I gave 3 small doses over 3 days and she had a terrible reaction. I called the company and asked if there were mushrooms in their product and was told they used a purification process that used Aspergillus niger. I am not certain it was aspergillus niger that caused problem. Paisley started to sneeze and had small clear discharge coming from her nose. Her symptoms which include lethargy for periods followed by what seems to be spurts of nothing having gone wrong at all. Still with fever though and very warm near bottom and rear quarters.
Now 8 days removed from last dose she has been feverish with mild sneezing and mild discharge. Her underbelly broke out in rash and you can tell she has been less than 100 percent. I began with a small amount of fresh chopped garlic today and will also be receiving a detox product from Mercola which is healthy pets kidney and liver support. Can you make any suggestion?
Dr. Deva Khalsa:
How do you know she has a fever? Have you taken her temperature or does she just feel warm? That would make a difference. Let’s stop raw garlic for now and detoxing herbal products and do it this way. Give one dose of Nux vomica 30x twice in one day in the morning and evening. The next day give one dose of Belladona 6c three times for that day. On the third day start Arsenicum album 6c or 6x three times a day for a week. This should be a gentle and easy detox. Make sure plenty of water is taken in during this time.
